Work Can Wait Pledge – An Open Letter to Basecamp
Recently the team at Basecamp, the company that provides us with amazing software to help keep our clients on track, has asked small businesses nationwide to sign on to their Work Can Wait Pledge.
Ventura Web Design & Marketing didn’t hesitate to sign on to the pledge, as this has been part of our culture since day one (nearly 20 years ago, by the way).
Below is a copy of the letter that I wrote to the team at Basecamp. I hope that your company will also sign on to this pledge.
Sincerely,
Kevin Richards

Hi Mercedes,
Since our founding in 1997, I knew that I didn’t want my employees to be overstressed or working 24/7. Too many tech companies insist on employees never even leaving campus (see: nap rooms, corporate cafe, etc.) and literally becoming corporate zombies.
Ventura Web Design & Marketing is different. Our core values include a focus on family time and work-life balance. We set clear expectations for our employees and our clients. After hours fire drills are avoided by establishing a solid plan (using Basecamp, of course) and diligently executing on that plan during work hours. Our clients know, up front, that we love and care about them, but we also care about our employees and their families. Our best clients usually have a similar commitment to their employees, and those that don’t, usually aren’t clients for long.
Thank you to your team for creating the Work Can Wait Pledge. Ventura Web Design & Marketing is proud to sign on and we hope others will too.
