Migrating from Amazon Webstore

February 8, 2016/in eCommerce /by Kevin Richards

The Amazon Webstore is closing its doors in June of 2016.  The platform is already unavailable to new merchants, and will soon be shutting down its offering to existing merchants.  If your online store currently uses the Amazon Webstore platform, you don’t have long to migrate your store and all its products to a new platform.  There’s still time to choose a new platform and complete your store migration to online store platforms like BigCommerce and Shopify.

One of the most frustrating issues with setting up a store on a new platform is the migration of existing product data.  If you have thousands of products, it can take an incredibly long time to move all that data over.  Fortunately, both BigCommerce and Shopify offer migration assistance for store data.

BigCommerce offers custom store data migrations for its merchants.  Product data, categories and customer data can all be brought over to new BigCommerce stores.  In addition, there are many built in options for feeding product data to Amazon.

Shopify has a migration tool that allows for easy transfer of data to their platform.  Merchants’ listings can continue to appear on Amazon but be managed through Shopify. Customers can pay through Amazon’s payments gateway and can have Amazon handle fulfillment.

Both BigCommerce and Shopify are great options for current Amazon Webstore clients.  Whichever store platform you choose to migrate to, you’ll need a professional ecommerce design firm to help guide you through the process and make sure the design of your new store is compelling and consistent.  Contact Ventura Web Design today to get started on your store migration right away.
